Art
should be taught in schools because it is one of the few things that will allow a child to use and improve their creativity during a period of their greatest growth. Creativity is not something just used in art but can be used in all walks of life and help improve life. Plus by nurturing a child's ability in art it can open a whole new path for their future if they are ever interested in the art field. The art field is no longer just a path for fine art but for animation, graphic design, illustration, fashion design, interior design, architecture, product design, etc. Also it helps train a child with eye and hand coordination as they try to capture what they think or see onto paper.
I would think so, if it's a noun.
Because, honestly, arts education is useless. You don't have to have a professional degree to teach art. Art is a major component of the overall dumbing down of the public education system. Anyone can succeed in art, which is the real reason behind the push for more art. Also, teachers are not accountable to students or parents with regards to art, unlike math and writing. No one will ever say "Why didn't my child do better job of painting this." They claim art is beneficial, but ask all successful people how much art has contributed to their overall success. Art it is a fun hobby, and should be played minimally in the public education system. I mean played because there is no such thing as teaching art. Those who can't teach, teach art. EDIT- The colorful answer (opinion) above although extremely bias is a perfect example of why art may be less important in public education as well as society to some people presently. Those who have aggressively narrow views of culture are often ignorant of art's purpose and it's power for communication. Also it is obvious that financial gain is a primary driving force and focus for some people who are losing their cultural perspective. Art has been and always will be a necessary component in human development. Historically speaking of course. See related link below for more information
