I would say a form of Feudalism is in use today, as in the USA with the army or navy (or some form of defence), they train you up and pay for schooling for exchange of x amount of months service right?

Also both had small petty kingdoms that experienced constant warfare, as each noble ran his fief, or land, as a small nation. Also, Feudalism was also present in several other countries, including China. Today, some countries still use feudalism.
