Reasoning is based on reaching a logical process to determine how one believes concepts, reaches conclusions, and how one interacts in society. Here are common factors that define faulty reasoning:

A. Receiving misinformation aborts the proper analysis of facts that can cause a person to reach false conclusions. If a person is informed that the world is flat, then it distorts logic and reasonable conclusions regarding travelling to far, lest one falls off the edge of the Earth;

B. Prejudicial information destroys logic & reasoning. If a person is taught that a particular race of people are inferior, then they will reason illogical conclusions about dealing with "inferior" peoples; and

C. Faulty reasoning can be the result of a learning disability such as autism. The earlier such people can be diagnosed and helped will cut down the errors of adult life these unfortunate people will make.

Avoiding faulty reasoning can be done in the first 2 examples by being exposed to a broad spectrum of ideas. The more information, even some faulty information will hopefully focus people on better and more open minded ways to view the world.

In the latter example, we are faced with a "disability" that is a trial for the persons coping with a disability. Currently, learning disabilities have a large range of possibilities. So much so that only maximum effort by "helpers" can help these people.
