I need a fuse diagram, our speedometer does not work, neither does our seat belts work automatically. The drivers side seat belt is locked in the off position. We felt it may need a new fuse. We have changed the instrument cluster on the odometer.
The odometer has failed
If the speedometer and odometer are both not working, I would blame the speed sensor. If only the speedometer does not work and the odometer does work, the cluster is bad.
There are two possible actions: 1) Replace the speedometer head assembly, because that is where your problem is. 2) Ignore the broken odometer and forget about it. The speedometer and odometer are one assembly. The same input that drives the speedo also drives the odometer, so you have a problem in the head itself.
it usually is the gear in the transmission Could be the vehicle speed sensor.
The logical problem - would be a broken speedo cable. The speedo & odometer are both run from the same cable.
probably need to replace the speedometer cable. if turbo check the big one that goes along the firewall possibly got burnt up on the down pipe
The speedometer and odometer in a 1990 Chevy Astro Van may not work due to a malfunctioning vehicle speed sensor (VSS), which sends speed data to the dashboard. Additionally, issues such as a broken speedometer cable, faulty instrument cluster, or electrical problems can also cause these gauges to fail. Inspecting these components can help diagnose and resolve the issue.
If the fuel gauge, temperature gauge, odometer, and speedometer are not working on a Pontiac Sunbird, it could be due to a faulty instrument cluster, a blown fuse, or issues with the vehicle's wiring or connectors. Additionally, a malfunctioning vehicle speed sensor (VSS) can affect both the speedometer and odometer. Checking the fuses and inspecting the wiring for damage are good first steps in diagnosing the problem. If those are intact, the instrument cluster or VSS may need to be tested or replaced.
If the odometer is not working but the speedometer is still indicating speed, the most likely fault is a set of small plastic gears inside the speedometer instrument itself. I have seen these gears available for sale at various BMW parts specialists. Removing the dash cluster for access to the speedometer is not difficult in a 1987 E30 car. With the cluster on the bench, you can repair the speedometer gears or replace the whole thing. Used speedometers are plentiful at on-line auction sites such as eBay.
The odometer and speedometer in a 1993 Buick Regal may stop working due to a faulty vehicle speed sensor (VSS), which sends information about the car's speed to the dashboard instruments. Additionally, issues with the speedometer cable, such as damage or disconnection, can also lead to failure. Electrical problems, such as blown fuses or wiring issues, may further contribute to the malfunction. Lastly, a malfunctioning instrument cluster can prevent both gauges from operating properly.
there is no separate drive for the odometer, so it's the gauge... also, everyone should have a manual for their vehicle, and the library should have a professional manual available...in the reference section, you'll have to make copies of the important sections...good luck :)
A clicking noise from the odometer while the vehicle is running can indicate a mechanical issue within the speedometer or odometer assembly. This may be caused by a malfunctioning gear or a foreign object interfering with the mechanism. In some cases, it could also be related to a failing speed sensor. It's advisable to have the vehicle inspected by a mechanic to diagnose and resolve the issue.
