English is in the Liberal Arts, or Humanities area. The best you can do in high school is to take a variety of courses in history, Social Sciences, and, of course, English. The more you understand about the world around you, the more you will connect with the literary allusions and author tactics of what you are reading. To get ahead before getting to college, take Advanced Placement courses when and where you can.

To teach English at a college level, you would need a PhD. Any college offering both an English major and some sort of education classes or teacher training program would be an appropriate place to study to become an English teacher.

There are no classes that are required to become a game designer, but they would not hurt your chances of getting a job. The best classes to take is your local colleges classes on programming.

The classes that someone needs to take to become a craftsman are college classes. They would need a vocational certificate in crafting. This of course only applies to professional craftsman. No classes are needed for freelance work.
