I'm from North Carolina and love the colors of orange and black in school colors.

When I was in junior high in the mid 70's, those were our colors.

More than one university uses these two colors. Oregon State U., Idaho State U., Campbell U., Oklahoma State U., West Virginia Wesleyan College, and Princeton U. Technically Oregon also has white, but I rarely see it used.
