In the television series Charmed, the words Absolvo amitto, amplus brevis: semper mea are supposed to mean "To free what is lost, say these words: 'mine forever'". In fact, this is not a grammatical Latin sentence and it would have caused great head-scratching among the ancient Romans. To them it would have meant something like "I release I dismiss ample brief always mine".
