Wow. First of all, it's not Hebrew, it's Yiddish.

It's the diminuitive slang form of the actual word ... "TAH-teh" ... which itself is a familiar,

informal term for 'father', borrowed from Russian, I think.

In Hebrew , 'father' would be "AHV" or "AH-bah". In proper Yiddish, it would be "FAH-tare",

(straight from German).

One way to translate "TAH-teh-leh" might be something like "little daddy".
