I would say yes. People learn in different ways, and some people are primarily visual, or primarily auditory, leaving those things out of your lesson would be prove to be a disservice to the students. However, many teachers interpret this as though PowerPoint slides were needed for every class, and I think that this is an incorrect interpretation. As long as you incorporate visual and auditory elements into your teaching style, it is not necessary to become a PowerPoint guru in order to be a good teacher. PowerPoint is a good tool, but that is all it is... a tool. Putting words on a slide don't make them better than speaking them, inherently. Kinesthetic learning should also be incorporated... students should be doing, in addition to seeing and listening. They should be talking, and manipulating objects... engaged in teaching each other when appropriate as well. All of these things help enhance learning.

For effective English language teaching, flash cards are effective to teach new words, psycho-motor poetry skills help to teach poems and audio-visual aids to teach literature. Anchor charts are said to be excellent for hooking students and helping them focus.
Audio visual devices enhance the interest of students, especially students of quite young age. As children take interest in colours and different devices, instruments, it's quite easy to teach them. As well as teen agers also take interest in pictures and practice, they also want to do their work by themselves. So audio visual teaching is much effective than conservative teaching.
