Jacobabad High is a part of a mega structure, the Sukkhar Rift, the South-western Horst is actually the Jacobabad-Khairpur high.the north-eastern high is called Mari-Khandkot High and the associated grabben(fallen block) in between is called the Panu aqil Grabben.

Sukkar Rift developed during the rifting of Indo-Pak Plate in Early Permian. the extensional forces. the rift remain preserved during drifting. upon the closer of the basin the rift buried under the molase sediments of Qutarney Age.
