It depends if it's a business letter or a personal one. BUSINESS LETTER: DATE ... COMPANY & ADDRESS ATTENTION: (WHOMEVER THE PERSON IT IS OR DEPT.) RE: (PUT IN WHAT THE SUBJECT IS OF YOUR LETTER) EXAMPLE: COMPLAINT ON MAYTAG REFRIGERATOR DEAR ____________ NOTE: For the rest of the letter keep to the point and be concise. Also give a solution to your problem. EXAMPLE: Since my refrigerator is less than a year old I feel I should not be responsible for the repair on the refrigerator fan failing and I do expect your company to compensate me for this expense. At the end of the letter sign off with: Yours truly and your name with contact email/fax/personal phone # and cell #) PERSONAL LETTER: If you have received a letter from a friend or family member read each paragraph they have written and answer accordingling. EXAMPLE: Your relative writes: "Jeff has not been well and we don't know if he will have to have heart surgery." YOUR RESPONSE: "I so sorry to hear about Jeff and hope all goes well. Please keep us in touch and let us know if there is anything we can do to help." NOTE: After you have responded to most paragraphs in the person's letter then simply go on with the news from your personal life. Hope this helps.
