Cells specialize during a process called differentiation, which typically occurs after the embryonic development stage. Initially, stem cells are undifferentiated and have the potential to become various cell types. As development progresses, signals from the environment and genetic instructions guide these cells to adopt specific functions, leading to the formation of specialized cells like muscle, nerve, or blood cells. This specialization is essential for the proper functioning of tissues and organs.
Before cells specialize, they are called stem cells. Stem cells have the unique ability to develop into different types of cells within the body.
An 8-cell embryo is an early stage embryo that has undergone several rounds of cell division, resulting in 8 cells. This stage typically occurs around three days after fertilization. These cells will continue to divide and specialize into different cell types as the embryo develops.
Many of the cells in the root meristem are in a stage called "cell differentiation" or "cell maturation," where they are not actively dividing. During this stage, cells begin to take on specific functions and characteristics necessary for the plant's growth and development. While some cells continue to divide, others will specialize into various types of root tissues, contributing to the overall structure and function of the root system.
From stage of the cell cycle do cells somtimes exit?
In multi-cellular organisms as cells grow and divide, they specialize.
B. Multiple cells allow some cells to specialize for a particular functio.

Plant cells do specialize but not in the same way as animal cells. Animal cells have specialized cells such as nerve cells, reproductive cells or muscle cells etc. Plant cells do not have any of those. But Plant cells have other specialized cells such as photosynthesis cells, epidermal cells etc. Both Animal and Plant cells have specialized cells that perform a specific function to keep the cell/organism alive.
