No matter what you study in university, you have to write essays and reports, however, the university majors that have less writing usually fall under the mathematics and science spectrum:
Math
Economics
Engineering
Don't get a major and there won't be essays.
Not writing essays should not be the decision point for choosing a major.
This is quite possibly the least intelligent way to choose a major that I have ever seen. Science and Engineering majors generally don't have to write many essays for their core classes. Like everyone else, though, they'll have to write essays in their general studies courses.
Tell this individual to practice writing essays, to practice a lot. He or she may still not like it after a while, but will at least be able to do it when required. The reason he or she needs to do this is because some writing skills will be required almost everywhere.

In the 2008-2009 Bulletin fo San Francisco State University it states that "Most students change their major at least once while attending college." Can anyone provide more specifics?
Probably anything titled Bachelor of Arts or BA (rather than Bachelor of Science).
