John Brown
The John Brown attempt to start a slave rebellion was an ill conceived plot that failed in totality. The end result was the execution of John Brown. The idea that Brown had regarding a slave rebellion was without merit. He and his followers believed that they could end slavery by taking control of the Harper's Ferry arsenal and recruiting slaves to his cause of a slave rebellion. There was at that time no thoughts among US leaders of trying to start a slave rebellion.
John Brown's goal was to begin a slave rebellion. Harper's Ferry was a Federal arsenal and thus a source for arms for the slave rebellion.
