  • There is a Mount Ida in Western Anatolia (modern Turkey) and a Mount Ida on the island of Crete (modern Greece). Both are quite important in Classical Mythology. (The Anatoloan one is mentioned in both the Illiad and the Aeneid.) Mount Ida means, roughly, "Mountain of the Goddess" and both were considered sacred as the dwelling places of the mother Goddess (Cybele/Rhea). In addition, the one in Crete was regarded as the birthplace of Zeus/Jupiter.

Subsequent namings are in honor of one or both of these two places. They include:

  • A mountain in Antarctica
  • A mountain in Colorado
  • A mountain in Tasmania, Australia
  • A mountain and mine and ghost town in Western Australia
  • An extinguished volcano in British Columbia, Canada (also called Ida Ridge)
  • A mountain and neighborhood in Troy, New York, USA
  • A river bluff and neighborhood in Davenport, Iowa, USA
  • A city in Arkansas, USA
  • A town and community in Wisconsin, USA
  • A community and electorate in New Zealand
  • A College in Newton, Massachusetts, USA
  • A defunct plantation in Talladega, Alabama, USA
