This is probably the most common question that arises when talking about professional psychology schools in Chicago. I will be attending The Chicago School in the fall, so hopefully I won't sound too biased.

There are two things that irk me about Argosy. One is that they lost one of my letters of recommendation even though I sent all three of them in the same envelope. The second thing, and probably the thing most pertinent to you, is that it is a for profit school. The admissions rates (about 73%) are much higher than The Chicago School and Adler (both about 17-25%). With such a high admissions rate, something is lost. While you may be an excellent student, you will have students in your class that should have never been admitted.

When it comes to deciding between Adler and The Chicago School, it is very difficult. From 2000-2006, The Chicago School did have a higher match rate than Adler. What it comes down to is where you fit the most. Adler focuses on social justice more than anything else, and The Chicago School focuses on multiculturalism more than anything else (although both schools do have programs and ways for students to learn about social justice and multiculturalism.) Most of my research as an undergrad focused on multiculturalism, so that's why I chose The Chicago School over Adler.

Adler does cost less than The Chicago School. The Chicago School does have more of a reputation than Adler, and I believe more awards. The Chicago School has more students than Adler, though, and for some, smaller schools are better.
