I visit Fiji often.. the usual pens and pads are always good. Throw in some erasers or get fancy with colored pencils. They people there are lovely and will be happy with anything.

I think the only way to successfully bring computers in the classroom is if it is school-issued property. acer computers are cheap but are they any good.
