Because students will have to study all of their different subjects to try and remember everything. Also, students tend to get nervous before a test so they won't remember what the studied. Finally, the day of their exams some students won't remember anything they studied because it was too much to handle.
Substitute teachers must pass the same state licensing teacher exams as full time teachers. Each state is different so check with your state's board of education.

All teachers have a degree and teacher training. However, the general level of teaching here is very poor compared to the west. Often it is by rote (aka Victorian methods) and no concern is given to students who ignore the lesson. Copying is not merely rife, but a stapple of many students. Due to face problems there is often cheating - with teachers giving the answers on request or students resitting the same exam time and time again until they get it right - during exams and students pass exams that they would not be able to given real invigilation.

Well, honey, passing the state test might get you a gold star for effort, but failing all the other subjects is like trying to build a sandcastle with no sand. You need to up your game in all subjects if you want to strut your stuff in 6th grade. So, hit the books and show those subjects who's boss!
XAT is conducted by XLRI Jamshedpur whereas CAT is conducted by the IIMs. Basic subjects are the same in both exams except for general knowledge, which is an extra section in XAT.
