CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) and ICSE (Indian Certificate of Secondary Education) are both education boards in India. The main difference lies in their curriculum and assessment methods, with CBSE focusing on a more centralized curriculum and exams, while ICSE offers a broader syllabus with emphasis on application-based learning and analytical skills. Additionally, CBSE is more widely recognized at the national level, whereas ICSE is known for its rigorous standards and holistic approach to education.
ICSE pattern of CISCE in India is the best education pattern in India. Syllabus and methods are decided by the real teachers not professors and scientists sitting in conferences and deciding for what should be added according to their whims and fancies. It is regularly updated keeping in mind the latest global trends. It is respected and accepted world wide. Pupils have wide choice in subjects and liberty to choose the books of their liking to read. Schools/students can choose from a variety of contemporary books and even international texts. ICSE is not "textbook oriented'' and has a wider outlook for the all-round development of students. The ICSE has more practical application - Projects and practicals in ICSE are better way of learning not just cramming the subject. Evaluation is more objective and qualitative. Projects and practicals help develop the habit of finding information and not just learn/mug the textbooks. They develop habit of researching on various topics. The new syllabus even takes into account the syllabus for various competetive exams in India. English taught in ICSE is of the world standard and develops taste for Literature. Also, ICSE gives more freedom to schools and more options to students which help in all-round development of students. Rajeev K Sharma (rksharma@indiatimes.com)
Schemes of work(prepared by the teacher, or more than one teacher working on a course) are means of describing in more detail the learning-teaching content within the overall syllabus for a shorter period of time, e.g. a week or month.syllabus - a document specifying appropriate course content, aims and learning outcomes for each level (e.g. through description of courses); statements of content to be covered in a certain period of time, and specifications of what language knowledge and skills will be covered at what level.
Not necessarily. The quality of the homework and how it is integrated into the learning process is more important than the quantity. In some cases, too much homework can lead to burnout and hinder learning.
Age can effect academic performance because of the ability for a person to gain more knowledge. With more time, there is obviously more room for learning. However, age does not have anything to do with hard work. If a person works hard with determination, their academic performance should improve.

Comparison between ICSE Board and other programme's likeCBSE and other boardsi. The CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) and the ICSE have a differentsyllabus, education pattern, exams and other aspects.ii. While talking about the syllabus, the CBSE has a more scientific approach. The wholesyllabus is divided into several units. In each unit, is also specified the number of periodsthat are needed for completion. The syllabus also includes the amount of marks in eachunit. The ICSE does not have such a scientific approach.iii. The ICSE syllabus is considered to be more elaborate and heavy as compared to theCBSE. While the ICSE has two papers on English, the CBSE has only one paper.iv. Another difference seen is that Environmental Education is compulsory with ICSE. On thecontrary, it is not so with the CBSE.v. In terms of the exam pattern, the entrance examinations follow the CBSE. So thestudents of ICSE curriculum have to put an extra mile when taking competitive exams.vi. The CBSE Board allows regular students and private students to take the exams. On theother hand, ICSE will not allow students who have not been studying in ICSE affiliatedschools to take exams6Beginner's Guide to ICSE Educationvii. Different boards differ in the way they test students; SSC exams are content based, theCBSE exams are application based, and the ICSE exams are knowledge, understanding, application and skill-set based.viii. CBSE students also seem to have an edge over other students when it comes to takingthe UPSC administrative service examinations, such as the IAS and the IPS. However, when it comes to taking up entrance exams outside of India, for example SAT andTOEFL, teachers seem to recommend the ICSE syllabus over CBSE. In the ICSEsyllabus, there's a clear emphasis on English and its literature.ix. Most CBSE students say that they find it harder to switch to ICSE at higher levels, whereas ICSE students are able make the shift easily

Raj Vedanta School offers the nationally recognized curriculum of ICSE ( The Indian Certificate of Secondary Education). Students learn through inquiry-based instruction that is tailored to students' needs. Students develop a love for learning and sound judgment. Ultimately, we provide our graduates with a framework for understanding the world and the skills to succeed in it. ICSE syllabus has the upper hand when it comes to practical knowledge while the CBSE syllabus is only better for theoretical knowledge. The students interested in computer fields have a plus point in studying ICSE schools since programming starts from STD 4. whereas CBSE students remain stuck in word office, excel, etc. which is of no use. The ICSE syllabus has more internal assessments and concepts that can be applied to practicals. The grading system for CBSE is alphabetical based. For ICSE, the marks are shown in numbers, which gives students a clear idea of how much they have scored. CBSE SyllabusAlmost all schools in India like Kendriya Vidyalaya as well as the Jawahar N Vidyalayas in addition to other private school in the Delhi NCT are affiliated to the CBSE syllabus. The complete syllabus is separated into units. Each unit is then allotted a number of periods that are necessary to cover the portions of an academic year. The weightage marks thus got will be added to the score of the final exams. By this method, the students and the teacher would be able to plan the study of the variety of divisions of the syllabus correctly and efficiently. It is an autonomous body.State SyllabusThe state syllabus is dependent on the government of that particular State. For each state, a separate education board would be available. The syllabus would then be decided by them as per the normal standards. The mode of instruction of this type of study will include English as well as the regional language.Key Differentiators between CBSE and State SyllabusWhile the CBSE syllabus offers education in a more scientific method, the state syllabus gives more importance to practical implication of related subjects. Another main differentiator amid the two is that, the former is considered much better than the latter. Students of the CBSE have an advantage of the State as the syllabus of the CBSE will be the same all over the nation. In case the students transfer from one state to another, the transition will be marginally easier for them. This would not be similar in case of the State syllabus students. It would be difficult for some to adjust to the syllabus of another Government school.(M)
Yes, sure. The only condition is ur child should score more than the cut off percentage.
ICSE (Indian Certificate of Secondary Education) board is more focused on holistic education with a wider range of subjects and an emphasis on language proficiency. CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) board is focused on a more structured and exam-oriented approach with a common curriculum across all its affiliated schools. Both boards are recognized in India and abroad for higher education.
The CBSE syllabus, governed by the Central Board of Secondary Education, follows a national curriculum framework and emphasizes a uniform educational standard across India. In contrast, the PUC (Pre-University Course) syllabus in Karnataka is designed by the Department of Pre-University Education of the state, focusing on regional educational needs and state-specific subjects. While CBSE provides a more centralized approach with a broad range of subjects, the PUC syllabus often includes local context and may have different examination patterns and grading systems. Additionally, the PUC is typically aimed at students preparing for higher education or competitive exams in Karnataka.
Improve your basics to cross the JEE main. JEE advanced requires a bit more practise. For JEE main focus on all the CBSE text books. For JEE advanced focus on a bit tough concepts and problems. Always be aware of the syllabus. Don't concentrate on unnecessary syllabus. Always be focused. Ultimately hard work pays.
