In order to remove the key card reader from Renault Megane the cover surrounding it on the dashboard must be removed first to gain access to the reader. Removing the reader all together would cause the car to stop functioning.
Put the card in, press the brake or clutch and press start
The radio code for a 2003 Renault Megane is typically a four-digit number that is unique to each vehicle's radio. If you have lost the code, you can retrieve it by checking the owner’s manual, looking for a card that may have been provided with the car, or contacting a Renault dealership with your vehicle identification number (VIN) and the radio's serial number. Some online services also provide the code for a fee.

Two things. Your card reader is not functioning or your key card is not working anymore. ask service center & purchase another key card but it will cost you a big amount... good luck

Not sure if this works the same way as the Megane, but here goes. Put your key card in the ignition slot and press start. Do not press the clutch or brake. Press and hold in the button at the end of the light stalk for about 5 seconds, or untill it bleeps twice. This should re activate the auto lights. Well at least it worked for me
iam afrade you will have to have a walk to your local Renault garage as i belive there a Renault part only and are around £150
To take apart a Renault Laguna key card, start by using a small flat-head screwdriver to gently pry open the seam along the edge of the card. Carefully work your way around to avoid damaging the casing. Once opened, you can access the internal components, including the battery, which can be replaced if necessary. Reassemble the card by snapping the two halves back together securely.
