That depends on the system design. Toyota Hybrids are designed to be able to drive a couple miles on a empty gas tank and a full battery charge (with third party modifications that void the warranty this can be extended to about 30 to 50 miles). Honda Hybrids will not move at all unless the gas engine starts first. Its just a different philosophy.

How do you switch my car into a hybrid?

To switch your car into hybrid mode, you typically need a hybrid vehicle designed with both electric and gasoline engines. If your car is not a hybrid, you cannot convert it simply by switching modes. For hybrid vehicles, you can often toggle between electric and gasoline modes using a designated button or system in the dashboard. How many liters of gasoline would be saved using the hybrid car instead of the gasoline powered car?

That would depend on what we use as alternatives to hybrid cars. It could be less than 0% or as much as 15%. Many smaller cars get as good, or better mileage than their hybrid alternatives and require far less expensive electronics.

Are hybrid cars diesel?

While it would be possible to build a hybrid car using a diesel engine instead of the gasoline engine, I do not believe any manufacturers are doing it. This may be because of problems with reliably restarting a diesel engine after stopping it that don't happen with gasoline engines, but I'm not certain.

Hybrid Cars Eco Friendly?

Not only are hybrid cars less expensive than normal vehicles but they are more eco friendly. These cars accomplish this by having two energy sources, using a standard combustion engine with an electrical engine. Inside of hybrid cars is a computer system that makes the decision of whether to run on gasoline or electricity. The less gasoline we use the more saved and the less harmful fumes are emitted into our environment.

Are hydrogen cars also hybrids?

Hybrid simply means two types of propulsion. For example, the prius uses gasoline and electricity. A car that used coal and hydrogen would also be considered a hybrid. Cars that are propelled only using hydrogen are NOT hybrids.
