Having owned and driven many miles in a Chevy Sprint I feel secure in saying that 3 cylinder power is very practical in cars up to 2000 lb.. My gas mileage was amazing for an '85 automobile, topping out at 56 mpg on one carefully managed solo trip. However, the average of town and city with a heavy foot hovered around the 40 mark. God forbid you should be hit by any full size, or for that matter, economy size vehicle. At a little over 1800 lbs. the Sprint was easily bent. The engine life is not up to the new 4 and 6 cylinders and cost about the same to replace. But if you drive it over 100,000 miles you would save enough to buy another engine. All in all, I would buy another if it was still made. Or one of those neat little Geo convertibles. I believe Mitsubishi is using a 3 banger in their new "ForTwo". Hope this helped. admin@budget-auto-online.com
