Electricians use them to view signal voltages, usually as a two-dimensional graph of one or more electrical potential differences (vertical axis) plotted as a function of time or of some other voltage (horizontal axis).
Oscilloscopes are used in the sciences, medicine, engineering, telecommunications, and industry.
Special-purpose oscilloscopes may be used for such purposes as analyzing an automotive ignition system, or to display the waveform of the heartbeat.
Cathode ray oscilloscopes are very versatile instruments, serving a very large number of applications. Traditional (true) cathode ray oscilloscopes were designed to monitor and plot one or more contiguous analog signals in various methods: one or more input signals as a function of time, a simple arithmetic function of these signals (their sum, their difference, etc) as a function of time, or one signal as a function of another.
Modern oscilloscopes are even more versatile, as they are digital. Digital oscilloscopes emulate cathode ray oscilloscopes, and add digital signal analysis and processing.

CRO means cathode ray oscilloscope. The Cathode Ray tube is the display mechanism only. A CRO can be a digital or analog scope, with or without digital storage. A digital storage scope can use a CRO as the display mechanism, or it can use a LCD screen, or any other method. There was a type of Cathode Ray tube that used analog means to store the information on the screen, The storage takes place on the screen itself. They were pretty rare, and not seen at all today, as they didn't work very well. Perhaps that is what you are referring to?
change your resistance, its a little button, or if you are using an older oscilloscope, its a knob that will lower the sensitivity of the display. if it is something way higher than the oscilloscope can measure, you may have to run a resistor or transformer in the line.

Why is the speed of the electron beam greater than the speed of light in cathode ray oscilloscope.
The most important part of an oscilloscope is the cathode ray tube.
