No. The instruction manual for the RCL 3000 "Rechargable Remote Control Lantern" specifically states that the 120V House Current Adapter will not power the lantern and is only for charging the battery.
You can replace the battery though...
Brand = SkyTech
Model = SC 46
Volts = 6 DC
Ah = 4 (or 4.5)
ApexBattery.com has them as of 1/30/2011 @ $7.95 each.
Note: There are other tricks you can do to make the lantern work without a battery, but it requires knowing a little about electronics.
Tubular Meta Halide Lamp
A simple circuit consists of a source of electro motive force ( EMF or voltage V ) This could be a battery,dynamo or solar cell. The circuit should do something, like light a lamp. For the lamp to glow there must be a flow of electrons called an electric current measure in Amperes (I). For the current to flow the circuit must form a closed loop, like a daisy chain. A switch is a device that breaks this loop and controls the state of the circuit. Closed circuit, switch closed, = lamp on Open circuit, switch not closed = lamp off

because it does!
Fluorescent lights use far less energy than any of the others listed.
None a lamp uses a lightbulb
That would tell me that your battery is not dead because you do not need the car turned on for your brake lights to operate

1. Remove the battery and battery holder to gain access to the lamp. 2. Remove the electrical plug from the lamp. 3. Remove three Phillips screws that hold in the lamp. 4. Install replacement bulb. 5. Replace screws. 6. Reconnect electrical plug. 7. Replace battery holder and battery.
if the copper wire (s) were conneting the battery to the lamp removing one of the wires would break a circut and the lamp goes out.
Disconnecting a wire from a battery would break the circuit. If the battery was powering a bulb, the lamp would go out.
Check the battery first. Sometimes when a battery is starting to go bad it will just refuse to hold a charge for any length of time. *A common cause of this on Vectras is the luggage compartment lamp staying on when boot/tailgate lid is closed.The bracket mounting the switch gets bent and causes the lamp to stay on,sometimes wires catch and shortout.You need to get in the boot and have it closed on you to check.
Yes you can. The battery supplies only as much current (amps) as the lamp draws when connected to 6 volts. The "12 amp" battery won't supply any more current when the lamp is shining than the "6 amp" battery did, but it'll last twice as long between charges.
The idea is to use Ohm's Law (V=IR). In this case, the relevant voltage is the 10.2 V across the lamp.
