What are the advantages and disadvantages of capacitors?

If you're talking about a capacitor for car audio related use, then I have the answer for you! :)There is a lot of confusion in the industry about what the purpose of these are so I will get straight to the point.Advantages: Capacitors reduce interference in the signal to your amplifiers therefore making your system cleaner. SQ cars use these typically. They can help with dimming lights but should be considered after an alternator and AGM battery are added as these are your best choices first.Disadvantages: Capacitors actually reduce voltage slightly and interfere with direct current flow. As fast as they discharge they are almost useless in providing anything for long drawn out bass notes associated with rap etc.*Note: Don't add one if you're already trying to consume more power than your charging system can produce. People use capacitors as a "band-aid"to try and fix a bigger problem.

What does a scosche 500k microfarad do?

When the bass hits in your car the headlights will dim if you have enough power. Installing a capacitor (the capacitor stores power and creates a buffer) absorbs this surge and your headlights don't dim. Not unlike a capcitor in your home airconditioner. Without a capacitor, your house lights would dim when it turned on.

Wnich amplifier to use for fusion 15subwoofer model no.FJL1511?

Not sure which amp is the BEST to use but I am running two fjl-1511's on one nv-am25001 Fusion amp. I have literally shocked almost anyone who hears it, even had a couple people jump out of the car because the pressure scared them. There is almost nothing that doesn't flex (1998 Z28 Camaro). Box is (two) 2.5cuft chambers. I built it myself and have been building custom audio boxes for more than 10 yrs. This is by far the loudest setup I have heard to date. Hope this helps. Yeh, the response time of this amp is comparable to similar priced amps.

Can you play car speaker through home surround sound?

Try it only if the speaker is rated at 8 ohms and has sufficient power handling. Using low impedence speakers, particularly those designed for a Bose car stereo system can damage your amplifier. The speakers are not likely to have any bass response if they are used raw (outside an enclosure).

What important factors should I consider when buying an amplifier for my car?

There are a bunch of important factors to consider prior to buying an amplifier for a vehicle. Primarily, you must decide what the amplifier will be primarily used for. If the amplifier will be used for powering subwoofers it would be good to consider the bridged or mono capabilities as well as ohm ratings of the amplifier as well as the draw, or amount of power the amplifier will pull from the car's electrical system. The most important factor in considering an amplifier for powering subwoofers is probably output watts, which will determine the amplifier's power to the speakers and the amount of bass to be transmitted. If the amplifier is to be used to power mid or high range speakers, a multi channel (four or more) amplifier should be considered because of the ability to run multiple sets of speakers or component sets off of the different channels of the amplifier. The considerations inherent to the subwoofer amplifier are also present including watt ouput and power draw, but when selecting a multi cha
