You will need to add an anode and cathode, such as a penny and a nickel. Then add a load resister and use an amp meter to measure current flow, which will change depending on resistance. Measuring the potential current would prove more difficult.

How is current measured in a series circuit?

Current is measured in a series circuit by the use of a multimeter. First, the power source must be attached to the circuit board. The board is attached to the multimeter, then that is attached back to the power source.AnswerCurrent is measured either with an ammeter, or with a multimeter set to measure current. The instrument must be connected in series with the other components in the circuit.

What would you do to measure the current in a resistor?

Since the current in a resistor is the same as the current in the leads/wires on either side of the resister, I might use a clamp meter such as an Amprobe to measure current, if the current was alternating (AC). Otherwise, I would have to break one of the leads and insert an ammeter or a multimeter with an amp setting into the circuit. Afterwards the broken connection would have to be repaired.

How do you measure direct current?

we can use ammeter for current checking

How do you use a multimeter?

A multimeter is an instrument used to check for AC or DC voltages, resistance and continuity of electrical components, and small amounts of current in circuits. This instrument will let you check to see if there is voltage present on a circuit.

How do you make circuit in multimeter to measure current?

Use a shunt made a precision but very low resistance. Place the shunt in series with the ckt. Measure the voltage drop, and do the math. The ammeter function of most voltmeters uses two ranges- about .25ohms for the 10 amp range, and a higher value for lower currents on the order of 250ma where a larger shunt won't affect the ckt too much and give a more accurate reading. Many meters are damaged when this function is used on low range first with 10 amps applied!

How and what is a multimeter use for?

a VOM is typically used to measure resistance, potential (voltage) and current (amps).

Can you use the multimeter to measure the resistance of a resistor when there is current passing the resistor?

A: NO the only way is to lift one lead and measure.

What is the common use for a multimeter?

A multimeter is used to measure various properties of electricity. The "multi" refers to it multiple functions which can range from volt meter, current meter, resistance meter. The most common use would depend on the users preference to what is needed and measured most frequently.

How do you check fuse with multimeter?

The current in the socket can not checked directly because the sockets are connected in parallel to the supplu and we can not measure current in parallel it is always measure in series so connect a lod to socket after that use ammeter in series to measure electric current.

Why should you use a current probe with a multimeter whenever you need to?

get into tight places,measure high-magnitude currents,monitor currents at a remote location,open a circuit

What causes a vehicle to use current after sitting for 1 hour?

Usually the Anti-Theft/Security features will draw the most power. You can measure the current draw from the battery (with the engine off) if you have access to a multimeter. It should be in the mA range.

How do you test that inverter battery is exhausted or need to be replaced?

Use a multimeter to measure the voltage.

What are the application of multimeter?

Multimeters are instruments used to test, measure and monitor electrical devices, such as circuits, electrical components or wall outlets. The two types of multimeter are analog and digital, with digital being the most common due to accuracy and ease of use. Analog ones have displays that use moving needles, while digital ones have digital readoutsAnswerA multimeter is an instrument that combines the functions of an ammeter, voltmeter, and ohmmeter. So it can be used to measure current, voltage, and resistance.

What instrument measures voltage?

Resistance is measured with an ohmmeter. A link is provided to a brief article on the ohmmeter posted at Wikipedia.Note that it is unusual in this day and age to have a device that will measure ohms and nothing else. The ohmmeter is usually included among the functions of a multimeter, and usually a digital multimeter or DMM.
