Why does a bulb blow?

Because to much electricity is getting through to the light bulb.

How much energy does a lamp use?

well it depends on the type of lamp but it should say on the packaging

How much electricity is needed to illuminate 108 square feet of space?

20-40 watts flourescents - depending on how much light you need.110vac @.3- .6 amps

What is the current when a 60W lampis connected to 120v?

Since power is volts time amps, the current in a 60W lamp connected to 120V is 0.5A. Since a lamp is a resistive load, there is no need to consider power factor and phase angle, so that simplifies the explanation. ======================== Assuming this is an incandescent or halogen lamp (using a filament to make the light) there is a trick here: the resistance of a lamp filament varies with temperature and does not follow Ohm's law. The resistance will be much lower, thus the current will be much higher when the filament is cold, when the lamp is first connected. As the filament heats up, the resistance increases until it gets to a steady operating point of 0.5A. For a halogen lamp, the operating temperature is about 2800-3400K, so the R at room temperature is about 16 times lower than when hot... so when connected, the current is about 8A but drops rapidly. The current could be even higher if the lamp is in a cold environment. Non-halogen lamps operate at a lower temperature and would have a lower initial current--about 5A. And this all assumes the lamp is rated for 120V. If it is a 12V/60W lamp, the filament will probably break and create an arc, which may draw a very large current.

Can a solar panel run on lamp light?

Well, yes, but the light is so weak that you won't generate much electricity.

How does a lamp change the energy that comes from the wall into energy that makes the room brighter?

both sound and light are forms of energy,so electricity is turned into light. the process? couldnt tell you but i do know that much.

How much electricity costs when a light bulb is on for a long period of time?

It depends on variables. The amount your supplier charges per kilowatt. The wattage of the lamp. and how long it is left on.

How much lux do you need for a street lamp?

between 10 to 50 lux depend on the status of street

How much electricity does a lamp use without a bulb?

None, unless there's a radio or someting else built into the lamp base.

How much percent of the worlds electricity is from light bulbs?

None. Light bulbs use electricity, they do not create electricity.

Why lamp gives light?

Because it is made to do so. An incandescent light bulb glows because electricity heats the filament until it is very hot and excites the atoms so much they emit "black body" radiation, much of which is in the visible part of the spectrum.

What is the rule for working out how much electricity you are wasting?

Energy input minus useful energy output. So if you were using a lamp you could work out how much energy was going in and how much was actually coming out in light. Then whatever's leftover is being wasted.

How much electricity needed for 100 watt compact fluorescent lamp?

The answer is simply100 Watts. The Wattage rating of electric light bulbs is just the amount of electricity they consume. So a 60 Watt bulb would take 60 Watts of electricity. In fact, if you could buy a 100 Watt CFL, it would have the light output equivalent to about eight 100 Watt conventional (incandescent) light bulbs.

How much electricity does a lamp used when turned off?

When the switch is open there should be no current flow.

How much electricity does a typical sodium vapour street lamp use?

In my experience (northeast USA) most HIGH PRESSURE SODIUM street lights are 150 watt or 250 watt For example in NYC 250 watts is used at intersections and 150 watt everywhere else

How much energy does it take to light fluorescent a light bulb for 1 hour?

The average home fluorescent lamp consumes 40W of power. Running for one hour it will consume 0.04 KWh. Units of electricity are charged per Kilowatt hour.
