What is the function of brush in a dc generator?

It has two main functions in a generator - firstly, it transfers the electrical energy from the (moving) armature coils to the (stationary) external electrical load circuit. The brushes are made of graphite, with a tiny trace of copper in it, so they're self-lubricating where they ruib on the copper commutator bars (those copper strips on the armature that the coil ends connect to). Secondly, the electricity generated in the rotating armature coils is alternating current, and the brushes, working with the commutator acts like a switch to reverse the connections between the coil ends and the external circuit when the alternating voltage reverses its polarity (+ and -) to give direct current in the external circuit. Have a look at http://community.myelectrical.com/wikis/myelectricalwiki/basic-generator-operation.aspx for more information.

Ruud heat pump to straight cool with heat strips I have a Ruud heat pump going to what was a straight cool with electric heat strips in a mobile home which has no wiring diagram and has 5 connection?

I'm afraid your question is not very clear. Your heat pump is basically an air conditioning unit with back up heat strips. If your thermostat is wired correctly and I'm certain it was from the factory, then the AC and heat strips will never come on at the same time. Is it not going into cooling mode? Ruud has wiring diagrams for most all their equipment on the internet. With a little research, you should be able to find yours. The Model # of your heat pump is the key to that.

Do Euglenas have cell wall composed of silica and shaped like the two sides of a pill box?

Euglena lacks a cell wall (an outer membrane containing cellulose). Instead, it has apellicle made up of a protein layer supported by a substructure of microtubules, arranged in strips spiraling around the cell. The action of these pellicle strips sliding over one another gives Euglena its exceptional flexibility and contractility.[11]
