Joseph Swan was a pioneer in the development of electric light. He discovered that a carbon filament could be used to create light when an electric current passed through it, leading to the invention of the incandescent light bulb. In 1878, he demonstrated his light bulb successfully, which contributed significantly to the eventual widespread use of electric lighting. His work laid the foundation for modern electric lighting systems.
He made it brighter with a different material than what Joseph Swan's lightbulb had in it.
Thales discovered static electricity by rubbing a peice of amber against a silk cloth.
He discovered that frogs legs convulsed when touched by metal that was charged by electricity.
EdisonActually, it wasn't invented by Edison, he was only credited for it, but other uncredited inventers were working on it as well.Actually, Edison did invent a light bulb that worked well; so did the Scotsman Joseph Swan. The two had worked independently, and neither knew of the other's existence. Edison filed for a patent, only to discover that Swan had filed six days before him. Priority is one of the unbreakable rules in patent law, so Swan got the patent and the official credit.Edison sulked a little, then sued a lot, and it dragged on for years. Eventually the two agreed to pool their resources, and formed a new company called Ediswan to make and sell millions of light bulbs.
Thomas Edison improved Joseph Swan's design of the incandescent light bulb by developing a more effective and longer-lasting filament. While Swan used carbonized paper, Edison experimented with various materials, ultimately using carbonized bamboo filaments that lasted much longer. Additionally, Edison refined the vacuum inside the bulb, significantly enhancing its efficiency and longevity. These improvements made electric lighting practical and commercially viable, leading to widespread adoption.
