What are transfer characteristics of rectifier?

Transfer Characteristic basically is relation between output and input of a electronic circuit. So in case of a series circuit in which a diode and a resistor are in series and the output voltage (Vo) is being measured accross resistor the relation between Input voltage (Vi) and Output voltage (Vo) will be Vo=Vi. When the we will represent it graphically we will get a straight line graph.

Why you use 20 log db instead of 10 log db in amplifiers?

you use 20log for voltages and 10log for power 10log(vo^2/vi^2) = 2*10log(vo/vi) = 20log(vo/vi)

Is the vi characterreistics curve of a pn diode is linear or exponential?

A diode has a fixed voltage drop (c), and if the voltage is less than that, no (or very little) current flows. Once the voltage increases above the voltage drop, the current increases exponentially as the voltage increases. A function that models this is: I = exp(b*(V-c)) where V is the voltage, I is the current, c is the voltage drop and b is a parameter that determines how fast the current increases; the value of b varies from one diode to another

What is the Difference between elemental semiconductor and compound semiconductor?

Elemental Semiconductors: They are single elemental Semiconductors.They belong to the IV group of the periodic table. Example: Si,Ge,C,Sn. Compound Semiconductors: They are formed by using two or more elements.they are synthesized using elements from groups II through VI of the periodic table, e.g. from group III and V (III-V compounds) or II and VI (II-VI compounds). EXAMPLE: III-V semiconductors:GaAs, GaP, GaN, GaAlAs, InP, InSb, etc. II-VI semiconductors:CdSe, CdTe, CdHgTe, ZnS.

If the voltage in a circuit is 24 v and the current 2 a what is the total power in the circuit?

P=VI, so P=24*2 = 48W.

Vi characteristics 0f a solar cell?

the VI characteristics graph for a solar cell lies in the third quartering of the graph as both I and V come out to be -ve for the mode of operation ie active region. there are even some value at the dark that is called dark current, better explanation is given in the book by A P Malvino, electronic principles.

What are the vi characteristics of ideal diodes?

Zero current flow when reverse biased, zero voltage drop when forward biased.

What are the differences between series and shunt compensation?

you could compare the VI characteristics of both..talk about damping ability of both as well as their power transfer capability.
