The classification stray load loss includes all losses which vary with the load but which are not accurately determinable. Such losses are caused by:
1. Eddy currents in armature conductors.
2. Short-circuit currents in coils under commutation.
3. Eddy currents in bolts and other solid parts of the armature.
4. Flux pulsations produced by change in the reluctance of the magnetic path at teeth and slots; and flux pulsations produced by currents in coils under commutation.
5. Distortion of the flux in the armature produced by the armature reaction.
Inasmuch as the stray load losses are not accurately determinable, but do actually exist, the recommendation of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers is that they be assumed as 1 per cent of the power output when calculating conventional efficiency of machines having an output of 30 or more hp.

A Field Loss Relay protects the motor or connected machinery from damage that could be caused by a sudden loss of power to the motor field. In a DC motor, reducing the field current causes an increase in rotor speed (Field Weakening control utilises this to run motors above their base speed). However, if the field current suddenly drops off, the armature will try to accellerate to infinite speed. Sometimes this will just blow the fuses on the drive, but I have witnessed a DC motor self-destruct because of field loss - the armature accellerated to such a speed that the centrefugal force ripped apart the rotor. The motor was only good for a boat anchor afterwards. - OK, now for my free advertising: if anyone needs a good reliable source for repairs of motor drives, PLC's, operator panels and other electronics, call AFI Systems LLC at (704)889-2404. It is not only 3 phase motor, but every electrical device heats up. The reason is the current flowing through the windings causes the I^2*R heat loss. Apart from that, in case of an induction motor, the alternate cycle of magnetization and demagnetization of core material causes the hysterisis loss and eddy current loss. Last but not the least, there are friction and windage losses for a rotating electrical machine. All of these losses are dissipated as heat energy and hence the machine heats up.

An injury to a peripheral nerve causes loss of both sensory and motor functions since that specific part is supplied by the motor pathway such as spinothalalmic and corticospinal.

Loss of ability to perform skilled motor activities is often due to damage to the motor cortex or the pathways that connect the motor cortex to the muscles. Other possible causes include damage to the cerebellum or basal ganglia, which are involved in coordinating movement. Additionally, damage to the spinal cord can also result in loss of skilled motor function below the level of the injury.
There is energy loss in heating up the wires in the motor.
