when working around an exposed cathode ray tube
It all depends on what else you are touching. You can be grounded by any other part of your body. Engineers working with ESD sensitive devices, will deliberately ground themselves, with a wrist band connected to earth.
Anti-static wrist band w/ alligator or ground clip. Anti-static workbench mat. Anti-static floor mat. Touch unpainted metal of computer case to discharge any buildup DO NOT touch any computer component metal contacts of chips, etc. COMMON SENSE
yep
Silicon is by all means an indirect band gap material.
if a diode has color band markings they are on the cathode end
Length of wrist strap/Band circumference = 7 inches.
To the computer metal case, or you can buy a wireless anti-static wrist band.
A wrist grounding strap is used to prevent electrostatic discharge when handling computer components. Just like a shock when walking on carpet can carry several thousand volts, it destroys computer components. In more detail, it is a wire leading from a technician's body (a wrist band with metal contact to the skin) to earth ground, with a high (1 megohm) resistance in it. This slowly discharges any static electricity that is built up on the body, to avoid discharging it into an electronic component. An electrostatic discharge (ESD) mat with similar connection to ground is also used to keep the electronic components at earth ground potential.
There is a strap which you wrap around your wrist and a wire with a clip on the end. Attach the clip to the chassis of the computer to eliminate static electric discharge. Any difference in voltage between the chassis and you will flow through the wire and be neutralized.
It is a part on the shield for a solider, mainly in the battle of Thermopylae. They would strap there wrists through a little wrist band and hold on to the grip right beside it for more balance.
the synonum for strap is- harnessswitch band whip tie (i got it from dictionary.com)
Yes they do. A good wrist band can substitute.
yes
A kind of wrist band with a wire attached to it and other end of wire attached to the body of CPU.
Apply a restricting band on your wrist! =D
Its a "Wrist Strong" band, making fun of the lance Armstrong Livestrong bands. He wore it after he broke his wrist.
NO!
