Results of Motorization of a Generator

If a generator loses prime mover power, it acts as a motor with a DC field on the rotor

The DC field will cause the rotor to try and follow the AC field in the same direction as before

If the mechanical drag on the rotor is heavy, it will fall behind and "slip poles,"inducing a large voltage into the rotor; this can cause insulation breakdown of the windings, flashover at the brushes, and violent shaking of the generator mountings.

If a generator loses DC excitation to the rotor it will not generate, but the prime mover power will still turn the rotor

Now the generator acts as a motor running at no load

What is the signal range for a multimeter oscilloscopes and signal generators.?

There are many different ranges, depending on the type (and expense) of the equipment involved. The range will be printed in the specifications for the device.

What is inter trip relay?

A protection signalling system whereby a signal initiated at one station trips a circuit-breaker at another station.

How relay used for protection purpose?

Relay are operated by small current /voltage connected to Secondary side of Current Transformer and /or Voltage Transformer. The signal stimulates the magnetic substance nearby with the attracting force. This closes or opens the circuit being used in protection purpose.

Why is modulation necessary before multiplexing?

modulation means transmitting the signal which is to be transmitted along with the carrier wave, then at the receiver it is separated from the carrier and demodulated. So modulation is needed so as to transmit the signal over long distances with higher accuracy. Hence it is required before multiplexing.

What is the difference between a resonant and a non-resonant circuit?

When a circuit is said to be resonate it means a signal or wave that is being generated has some relationship with a reflected or feedback signal such that the generated signal is reinforced with the reflected or feedback signal. This reinforcing of the signal may cause a standing wave of constructive interference and required the generation of the signal and the reflection or feed back to be in phase or Coherent. if there is no phase coherency then it can be harder to achieve the standing wave of constructive interference. However is the Phase is detected and delay is compensated it can be achieved like in a laser ring gyro, which uses two resonate cavities that have there path length adapted to cope with heat expiation.

What effect will increasing the required transmission distance have on transmitting the signal clearly?

Increasing the required transmission distance of a signal will have a negative effect on the clearness of the signal. As the source is moved farther away from the receiver, a weaker signal will be present.
