It kills all the plants and animals and pollutes the water. If animals swallow it they will become ill and die. It's sticky so when birds get covered in it,their wings stick to their bodies so they can't fly away and hunt. They would die of starvation or because they swallowed the oil. It's horrible even describing it! But at least there are ppl out there that care about animals and help them. :)
The most oil pollution to the ocean is often caused by oil spills from shipping accidents, offshore drilling, or illegal dumping. These spills can have devastating impacts on marine ecosystems, including damage to wildlife, habitats, and coastal communities. Effective prevention measures and rapid response are crucial to minimizing the damage caused by oil pollution in the oceans.
There is deforestation going on in Ecuador and oil spills are very dangerous there. Many spills kill animals and affect thousands of human beings. Oil spills also damage the rainforests which causes the deforestation. Deforestation is also caused by large forest fires which spread very quickly on land.
Equipment failure can lead to oil spills and environmental damage.
Yes. If fact some of the largest spills occurred in Kuwait during the Kuwait war, and during the Iraqi-Iran war. These spills were intentional, so sometimes they are not listed in the history of oil spills. In Kuwait, the burning oil caused widespread air pollution. In the current war in Iraq, I have not heard of oil spills from wells, but pipelines are frequently attacked, as they run near roads. Smaller spills have occurred from wells producing in Saudi Arabia, Iran, and Kuwait due to human error, and the environmental damage is frequently limited.
Oil spills kill and harm sea life as well as ruin business for industry's such as fishing tourism etc. So to protect the environment , the productivity of the environment and the beauty of the environment, it is our duty to prevent damage caused by oil spills whenever we can.
The oil industry has had a significant impact on the environment in the Niger Delta, causing pollution of waterways, destruction of habitats, and health problems for local communities. Oil spills, gas flaring, and oil exploration activities have been major contributors to the environmental damage in the region.
There have been two major oil spills in the Gulf Of Mexico: June 3, 1979 : Ixtoc I oil spill. April 20, 2010: BP Deepwater Horizon (Macondo Blowout) Oil spill. Minor spills: September 16, 2004: Taylor Energy wells. Hurricane Ivan caused leaks to 26 wells near Louisiana. June 8, 1990: Mega Borg SE of Galveston. Explosions in a tanker's pump room caused fire and oil spills while transferring oil October 23, 2007: Kab 101 - Storms caused damage to Kab 101 causing collisions, leaks resulting in evacuation of oil rigs.
Accidents happen, most oil spills are caused by even human mistake, earthquakes or some other force causing blowouts, leaks, pipeline corrosions and explosions.
Oil spills can damage many things. One oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico killed a lot of sea life. All the rescued animals were cleaned, but out of around 700 animals they saved, only 200 survived.
It can definitely contribute to oil spills.
high cleanup costs, death of plants and animals, and damage to fishing economies
By seeing a lot of oil spills
