They are of similar design, but a fluid coupling simply transmits torque (with some frictional loss), while a torque converter amplifies torque, similar to a reduction gear.
An Oldham coupling is a flexible shaft coupling that consists of two hubs (each with a fin or tenon) and one midsection (with grooves that fit those fins, one on each side of the midsection, and perpendicular to one another). The Oldham coupling is an outstanding design for torque transmission between two shafts which might be slightly misaligned. The coupling accommodates this misalignment, while maintaining homokinetic motion (the two shafts rotate at the same speed at all times), and while exerting only very small reactive forces (resistance to accommodation of the misalignment, exhibited as sideward forces on the shafts). More information on Oldham couplings can be found at www.oepcouplings.com.
It is used to transfer torque between two parallel but not collinear shafts. Depending upon the matterial of the 3 discs , oldham coupling can be used in many devices. They can easily be used in servo mechanisms.
A plain mag coupler uses magnets to replace the field and armature coils in a brushless dc motor. Then two shafts are coupled together, but to remain coupled they have to be synchronous (rotating at the same speed). If one shaft has a drive motor and the other has the load (fan blades for example) if the load exceeds the maximum torque they slip and are no longer coupled together (the blades will stop turning until the motor stops and restarts). A mechanical inductive coupling has a squirrel cage similar to an induction motor. This allows the transmission of torque without having to have the same speed. Also, inductive coupling can refer to transmitting electrical power through coupled inductors or a transformer.
A claw coupling is a type of mechanical coupling used to connect two shafts, allowing for the transmission of torque while accommodating misalignment and vibration. It typically consists of two claw-shaped components that interlock, providing a secure connection. Claw couplings are commonly used in various applications, including pumps and motors, due to their ease of installation and ability to handle moderate loads. They also allow for quick disconnection when maintenance is needed.
Max torque and breakdown toarque are the same...,.the point at which a motor will stop/stall.

It does not connect to the head. The torque converter connects directly to the crankshaft of the engine. IA torque converter is a modified form of fluid coupling that is used to transfer rotating power from an internal combustion engine or electric motor, to a rotating driven load. Like a basic fluid coupling, the torque converter normally takes the place of a mechanical clutch. In a torque converter there are at least three rotating elements: the pump, which is mechanically driven by the engine; the turbine, which drives the load; and the stator, which is interposed between the pump and turbine so that it can alter oil flow returning from the turbine to the pump.

If your transmission is original, it is the Roto Hydramatic model 10, known as the "slim jim". Its torque converter (actually a fluid coupling with a simple stator) is inside the transmission, behind the pump. There is a nothing but a damper plate out in front where you would find a torque converter on a more conventional automatic. The torque converter actually fills and drains in order to shift. It is full in first gear, then for second gear, that coupling empties and a clutch applies that connects the engine directly to the rear wheels through a gear reduction. Then for third gear, the coupling fills again, while that direct clutch remains applied. This converter is not 'user serviceable', and no high-stall aftermarket parts are available. Unfortunately, cracks in the aluminum coupling housing are common, and the most common symptom is slipping in first gear.
The torque converter is located between the engine output shaft and the transmission. Have to drop transmission to remove.
