it is possible to modify a old AT psu as lead acid battery charger for 12 volt battery.it will work very good and cost effective.i am using this. in old type of power supplies there is a variable resister for voltage correction. you can trim it according to your need but in some cases it doesnt gives more than 13 volt.for this you replace it with a slightly higher value preset.you can incerese its voltage upto 16 volt.now you can place a automatic battery charger circuit with this available supply.due to high current drain the 12 volt rectifier diode may malfunction.ensure the proper cooling of psu.than means in built fan is enough but it should always working.ensure proper grounding to earth pin of main lead otherwise it will give you a shock although not fatal.

Can I connect a 12v 35 amp lead acid battery with my 600w computer ups to run my ceiling fan for 2 hours?

yes uou can use but you have to use external battery charger 13.5 v-15 v, 5 amp charger .

Can AC arc welding machine be converted into 12volt lead acid battery charger?

Well, it CAN. But for the effort and money required you'd be better off buying a charger instead.

How long should you charge your 12 volt auto battery 35 amps 13.5 volts DC?

I think you mean 35Ah (Ampere-hours) This depends on the amount of energy that can be stored. The amount of energy in car batteries is usually expressed in Ah, and depends on the voltage of the battery. In Europe, mostly 12V, 40Ah to 70Ah. Let's say a battery of 35Ah 12V (in reality, a fully charged lead-acid battery will have 12,65V over its open poles) needs to be fully charged. 35Ah means tha it can, theoretically, deliver 35A at 12V during 1 hour. That's is a total power storage of 12x35 = 420Wh = 1512kJ (kiloJoules) The amount of current flowing into the battery will charge (by an electrochemical process) the battery. So it's not really the voltage of the battery, but the current that's important. Unless you know the internal resistance of the battery, You can not really calculate this. But now practical. You can charge a car battery at a pretty high current, although quality deteriorates with higher currents (that's why professional chargers will use a pulse charger) , so your 13,5V will not be too high. Car generators can deliver up to 16Volts to a battery. What I suggest is this: measure the battery voltage, load the battery with the 13,5V, and measure again after 10 minutes. Check the voltage of the battery, and do not exceed 12,5V. Even better: Load the battery, and meanwhile measure the current and voltage. Now you can calculate the internal resistance of the battery. A word of caution. Car batteries contain a highly poisonous fluid, a mix of water an sulfuric acid. Don't play around with it, DON'T SHORT IT, don't reverse polarisation, This fluid causes severe burns. Be careful.

Difference between tubular battery and lead acid cell?

Well, tubular tells you that it's tube shaped, like a section of pipe. Batterytells you that it has more than one cell.Lead acid tells you that what chemistry it is - lead-acid - and cell tells you that there's only one section to it. Knowing the number of celss and the chemistry means that you can figure out which voltage it should have when fully charged etc. Now, to make things maybe a bit more complicated, you could use lead-acid cells to build a tubular battery.

What is the total voltage of a fully charged battery?

This depends on the actual battery and what it is made of. A 1.2 volt rechargable NiMh battery typically gives off a voltage of 1.3 to start with, then it rapidly goes down to 1.2 volt where it stays stable until almost empty, then it quickly drops below and down to .5 volt or even further down.. The same applies to Lead Acid or NickelCadmium batteries. Different types of batteries have different properties. NickelCadmium normally are able to give a lot of current until empty. where as the current you get from a NiMh battery is rather limited. Lead Acid are capable of a very high current but still dependant on the internal design of the battery. Unfortunately one can not give a correct (for all) answer to a general question. Regards.

Can I use olympus batteries with a battery charger?

It really depends on whether or not the batteries are rechargable. If they are not, then you can't use them with a battery charger. If you do, they can explode and leak acid on your floor.

How do you charge an ATV battery?

Remove it and hook it up to a battery charger. If you don't have a battery charger, you can take it to Autozone and they will charge it for free. Just be careful handling the battery because battery acid can cause serious injuries and damage to property.

Can rechargeable batteries be charged by a car battery charger?

It's a good idea to avoid charging any battery with a charger that was not designed specifically for that kind of battery. A car (vehicle) charger is generally designed to recharge 12 volt lead acid batteries. (The actual voltage of the battery and charge is a bit higher than 12 volts.) Rechargable battery packs come in different voltages, and many if not most are not lead acid types. A lot are nickel-cadmium or lithium types, and they need a "controlled charge" that a vehicular battery charger will not be able to provide. And that's setting aside the issue of the voltages of the battery and the charger, which is critical. It's a bad idea to attempt to recharge a battery with a charger that is not designed to recharge that "flavor" of energy storage device.

How charge lead acid batteries for 6 v DC?

Charge them with a 6 volt battery charger.

Can you buy acid to recharge a car battery?

You don't need acid to recharge the car battery. You may need to top it with distilled water and put the battery on the charger. You may be able to get the acid from a car battery shop, but some of the new car batteries now come as a sealed unit.

Are there carbon monoxide fumes from a battery charger?

Due to the chemical compositions of batteries (most batteries contain a form of acid which reacts to create electricity) neither the battery charger nor the battery is likely to produce CO (Carbon Monoxide)

Can I charge 6 volt 4.5Ah sealed lead acid with 12 volt 5 Ampere charger?

No, you should not charge a 6-volt 4.5Ah sealed lead acid battery with a 12-volt charger, as the voltage is too high and could damage the battery. Sealed lead acid batteries need to be charged at their specified voltage, typically around 7.2 to 7.4 volts for a 6-volt battery. Using a charger with the correct voltage and current rating is essential for safe and effective charging. Always select a charger designed for the specific voltage and chemistry of your battery.

How does one charge a sealed lead acid battery?

The basic lead acid battery is ancient and a lot of different charge methods have been used. But one way is to charge these batteries at a float voltalge of 2.25 to 2.3 volts/cell (at 25 degrees C) (13.5V to 13.8V for a 12V battery).

What will happen if lead acid battery is charged with ac power?

It will more than likely explode. You charge the battery with a charger that coverts 120V AC to 12V DC.
