Purpose: An optocoupler (or optical isolator) uses optics to isolate one circuit from another. The diode in the optical isolator is similar to an LED. The light from this LED controls the gate or base of a transistor.
A diode has two terminals, an optocouple will have at least 4. A diode is used to control current flow direction; an optocoupler main purpose is to isolate one circuit from another. etc. etc.
the High voltage rated diodes are power diodes while of low rating or normal voltage rating are considered to as ordinary / normal diode
gunn diode is transfered electron device & PIN diode is semiconductor device
the energy required to break covalent bond in si is 1.1ev and in ge is 0.7ev
there is difference between doping levels. In normal PN junction diode we add 1 impurity for 108 atoms where as in tunnel diode we add 1 impurity for 103 atoms.there is a probability that electrons may penetrate through barrier. So will not disappear in tunnel diode we get maximum current before barrier disappear where as we get maximum current after break down(there is no barrier) this effect lies within a certain voltage limit of 0.4V. When we consider the energy band structure in case of PN junction diode the fermi level lies inside the forbidden energy gap.In case of tunnel diode, the fermi level lies outside the forbidden energy band. In tunnel diode, there is a topic about negative resistance region where as we cannot discuss it in PN junction diode. ur friend, uma.
A diode-clipping circuit is used to skip some portion of the signal (e.g. the half way/full way rectifiers rectify the '-ve' or '+ve' part of the signal). A diode-clamping circuit is used to add some signals to the original signal.
difference between detector and diode

The zener diode is optimized for reverse breakdown voltage accuracy and stability. This value and its tolerance is specified in more detail than a normal diode.
A Shockley diode is a primitive diode identical to a thyristor with it's gate left disconnected. A Schottky diode is similar to a normal avalanche diode except that it's forward voltage is quite low, and it's switching speed is very high.
The difference in the 1N4007 diode and the 1N4007S diode is the voltage. The 1N4007S has a higher voltage but the meaning of the S is not listed.
Zener diode is heavily doped pn junction diode.
gunn diode is transfered electron device & PIN diode is semiconductor device
what is the difference between reverse characteristics of zener diode and a practical diode ?
diodediode conducts by applying certain voltagephoto diodephoto diode conducts when it is exposed to sun light
potentiometer is not sensitive to lightpotentiometer has three terminals, diode has two
The difference between the pn-junction diode and the zener diode is that the pn-junction diode is used for rectification while the zener diode is used for rectification and stabilization. Also, the zener diode can function in the breakdown region while the pn-juntion diode can not function in that regime.
the current in mosfet is controlled by electric field where as in poto diode is controlled by intensity of light
