A turbine extracts some of the energy from a moving fluid or gas and turns it into rotational motion. In a power plant, the rotational motion drives a generator, and the generator produces electricity.

If the turbine is in a hydroelectric plant, the moving fluid is river water pulled towards lower elevations by gravity. If the turbine is in a coal-fired plant, the fluid is high-pressure steam escaping from a boiler heated by the coal. Generating electricity by wind also uses turbines (they look a lot different, though!) to change the motion of the air into the rotation needed to drive the generator.

How do boilers get energy from turbine?

Usually boilers provide steam to power a steam turbine. The turbine could provide electricity to run any pumps in the boiler. But boilers get their energy from a heat source.

Why extraction taken from steam turbine?

Why extractions are taken out from steam turbine.

What is the definition of combined cycle turbine technology?

Using waste energy in a gas fired electricity generation plant to run a steam turbine

What is steam of plants?

A steam plant is any where from 33% to 48% efficient. With a steam plant you use steam to run an electirc generator. Water is heated creating steam. Which is sent through the steam turbine.

Why would you not heat the steam coming out of turbine and feedback to turbine?

Steam is redirected back into the boiler from the high-pressure turbine for reheating, but the steam from the low-pressure turbine enters into a condenser to become water again.

What are the preventive maintenance of steam turbine?

The preventive maintenance of steam turbine mainly entails frequent servicing of the parts. This will ensure a smooth performance of the steam turbine.

Steam turbine nozzle clearance is the total energy content available in steam. This is through a valve.

Any machine that converts kinetic energy to electrical energy?

-- steam turbine -- hydroelectric turbine -- wind turbine -- hand-crank generator I think even the nuclear power plants do that ... they use the heat from the reactor core to boil water, then run it through a steam turbine to generate the electric power.
