If it is the water line replace with pex, it is very cheap and better than copper. Although i agree with the statement above to a certain degree. This is open to opinion, Copper carries every bureau of compliance requirements where as pex does not even have one. Most insurance companies will only insure you with copper piping or galvanised piping as pex piping is not recognised.
One possible reason for the temperature/pressure (tp) valve to start leaking may be from expansion of the water as it is being heated if there are check valves in the water system this is sometimes the culprit .In most water systems there is plenty of room for expansion in the distribution piping and service line and private well systems have a pressure tank that can absorb the expansion.
