Most new technologies come from a basic need, in example have you ever said " There has to be a better/ easier way to do this ?" Our need to simplify, and make easier those tasks we do daily leads to the development of new technologies. All technologies were new at some time and all of them made life for their creators and those they shared them with easier. But then later someone thought of an even better way to accomplish the same thing and fulfill that need. This is the process of technological evolution and progress. Our earliest human ancestors about 200,000 years ago inherited their technologies from their prehuman ancestors. They continued using pretty much the same technologies until the end of the last ice age about 12,000 years ago, when climate change permitted the development of agricultural technologies and early civilization and the new technologies what went with that. Gradually technologies progressed through the late stone age, the copper age, the bronze age, and the iron age. Then about 1800 the industrial age began with an explosion in technological development far beyond that of anything before. Then about 1900 the electronics age began, then computers were developed in the 1940s and since then technological development jumped by a factor of thousands of times faster than even in the industrial age!
Because during summer the weather is warmer and the metal rail lines will have expanded to their maximum length. If they were fixed rigidly in place during cold winter weather when they were later subjected to the heat of summer they would expand and buckle.
Analog services came first, as they were the primary means of communication and broadcasting before the advent of digital technology. Analog systems, such as traditional radio and television, transmitted signals in continuous waves. Digital services emerged later, utilizing discrete signals to improve the quality and efficiency of data transmission, leading to advancements in communication technologies.

In urban planning, several key inventions laid the groundwork for modern advancements. The development of the automobile significantly influenced city layouts, necessitating road systems and zoning laws. Additionally, the invention of the elevator enabled the construction of skyscrapers, allowing for vertical urban growth. Moreover, advancements in communication technologies, such as telephones and later the internet, facilitated better coordination among planners and stakeholders.

The order of empires can vary based on the criteria used, such as geographical region or time period. However, a common chronological sequence includes the Sumerian Empire, followed by the Egyptian, Assyrian, Persian, Greek, and Roman Empires. Later, the Byzantine Empire emerged, followed by the Islamic Caliphates, the Mongol Empire, and the British Empire. Each of these empires had a significant influence on culture, politics, and economics in their respective eras.
