Unfortunately, that's a really hard question to answer because I don't know what kind of car you have. If it's an older car with the ign. switch in the dash you simply unplug the wires, remove old switch and install a new one in reverse order. If however, you're talking about a switch in the steering collumn... those can be tougher. Basically though, you pull the wheel, possibly remove the wheel locking mechanism, pull the ign. switch (key) retaining screw or pin and remove the lock. Assemble in reverse order. However, however, however, if you're actually talking about the electrical end of the ignition switch in a steering collumn... Ugh. Forget it. Those ones are monsters. For professionals only. You usually gotta tear the whole collumn apart.

Hope that helps a little.

What and where is the PNP switch on your 99 Toyota Corolla?

The pnp switch is short for Park/Neutral Switch. Its pretty much the middle man between the ignition switch and the starter. It only allows the current from the ignition switch to reach the starter if the vehicle is in park or neutral. Its usually connected to the shifter. Allow me to correct myself on the first answer. If the shifter is on the column it will be located in the column region. If shifters on the floor its under the vehicle and connected to the shifter.

How do you put your main beam on?

To activate your main beam headlights, first ensure your vehicle is running and the ignition is on. Locate the headlight control switch, usually found on the steering column or dashboard. Turn or pull the switch to the "high beam" position, often indicated by a blue indicator light on the dashboard. Remember to switch back to low beam when there is oncoming traffic to avoid blinding other drivers.
