Ah, the EGR system, a gentle friend in our engine's garden. It works by recirculating a small amount of exhaust gas back into the engine's intake manifold. This helps reduce harmful emissions and control the engine's combustion temperature, creating a more harmonious and efficient painting of our automotive landscape. Just a little touch of EGR can make a big difference in the beauty of our engine's performance.
A positive EGR valve has purple fireflies on it.
p0405 EGR position sensor input below the minimum acceptable voltage range (shorted low) * Clean or replace the EGR * Replace the DPFE * Clean the throttle body * Clean the MAF - use electrical contact cleaner and be gentle
Automotive Engineering it means Exhaust Gas Recirculation. It is a valve
The basic advantage of a cam is that it could dispense with having to recirculate exhaust gas through EGR systems.
EGR or Exhaust Gas Recirculation is a system that takes exhaust gas and recirculates it back into the intake air, this does a few things beneficial to the actual running quality of the engine such as: Reduce Combustion Temperatures which dramatically cuts down on Spark Knocking (detonation) which is a common occurance on a high-compression engine such as the LT1, and reduces the NOx (oxides of nitrogen) emissions caused by high compression which fails emission tests.
I have the same problem with my truck, It notorious... You have a stuck EGR valve.. Replace the EGR valve and it should work fine.
take the EGR valve off and spray carb cleaner in the egr valve and in the port. This will some times work as it gets plugged up
The EGR valve and the EGR sensor work together. The EGR gas temperature sensor is mounted near the EGR valve. The sensor detects the temperature of the exhaust as it moves through the valve. The information is sent to the ECM and in turn the EGR on/off time is regulated precisely and more efficiently. Any malfunction with the EGR gas temperature sensor will set off a code 35 ( Info taken from HAYNES MANUAL)
an egr valve opens to put inert gases in the combustion chamber to lower the temperature. this is done to reduce NOx emissions that are produced at high temperatures.
the egr is located towards the back of the engine, near the firewall. It's almost impossible to see let alone work on.
You will fail emissions. If you dont figure out a way to make that EGR work.
http://www.lcengineering.com this place sells egr block plates for your pickup. They work great I have them on my truck. Off road use only ;-)
It does not have EGR.It does not have EGR.
egr stands for exhaust gas return. it sends the unburt fuel back into the system to be reused. generally you get a gas smell and it will make the check engine light on
P0401 "egr insufficient flow" can indicate many things, including: 1-vacuum line plugged or leaking 2-pipe from exhaust to egr valve plugged 3-pipe to vacuum modulator valve from egr valve plugged 4-passages at egr are plugged 5-bad egr valve 6-bad EGR VACUUM MODULATOR VALVE I tried cleaning egr modulator valve, (beside/above egr)removed and tested egr vacuum & movement, inspected and cleaned all vacuum lines openings and pipes. All above did not work. I replaced the egr vacuum modulator valve. Light went out without a reset in about 30 miles of driving. Not sure if this valve can be cleaned. Retails for $69.US
Try removing negative battery cable for 10 minutes. If that does not work you will need an OBD2 scan tool to reset the light. I just cleaned my egr valve and the check engine light went off and I drove it a little and it came back on how long do I have to drive my car after work with the egr valve how many miles
It doesn't have an Egr valve. It doesn't have an Egr valve.
