Setting begins to occur after the concrete is mixed and even before pouring. The cement in the concrete begins to stiffen after mixed with water. The concrete is beginning to change from liquid form to solid form. During the setting process, the concrete does gain strength, which is the beginning of the

hardening process. When the water ingredient is added to the concrete mix, the concrete is still pliable and flexible, sort of a paste. There is two stages of setting: initial and final setting. Initial setting is when the concrete loses it flexibility and begins to harden. Final setting is when the concrete can sustain some load, but still has some moisture within the mixture.

What are the factors affecting the initial setting time of cement?

When cement is mixed with water, it forms slurry which gradually becomes less plastic with the passage of time & finally a hard mass is obtained. In this process, at a certain stage when the cement paste is sufficiently rigid to withstand a definite amount of Pressure, it is said to have set & the time required to reach this stage is termed as "setting time".

Why fineness modulus of coarse aggregates is more than that of fine aggregates?

How does Blaine fineness relate to micron sizes?

Typically, higher numbers for Blaine Fineness relate to smaller particle size. Think of it as spheres, the smaller you make your sphere the more surface area there is compared to volume, in other words a smaller space contains more surface area. Additionally, the surface structure will affect the fineness without affecting particle size. Blaine Fineness is measured in m^2/ g, this means the mass of sample used will affect the fineness. A denser material may have more surface area but also has a higher mass to achieve it.

What is the definition of fineness modulus?

Fineness Modulus is a measurement of the coarseness or fineness of a given aggregate.

How does microsilica affect concrete setting time?

Silpozz Micro silica can slightly delay the setting time of concrete, but this can be adjusted with admixtures to meet project needs.

What is the fineness of 14 carat gold?

i think the fineness is 583

What does fineness mean and how does it relate to carats?

Carats and fineness are both words relating to gems.

How do you convert fineness into percentage of gold?

To convert fineness into the percentage of gold, you simply multiply the fineness by 100. For example, if the fineness of a gold alloy is 750, this means it is 750 parts gold per 1,000 parts total, which translates to 75% gold content. Therefore, the formula is: Percentage of Gold = (Fineness / 1000) × 100.

What does karats mean is gold?

It is used to measure the purity of gold alloys. One karat (or carat) is equal to 1/24 purity by mass.24 carat (millesimal fineness 99.9% or higher)purity22 carat (millesimal fineness 91.6%)purity21 carat (millesimal fineness 87.5%)purity20 carat (millesimal fineness 83.3%)purity18 carat (millesimal fineness 75.0%)purity15 carat (millesimal fineness 62.5%)purity14 carat (millesimal fineness 58.5%)purity10 carat (millesimal fineness 41.7%)purity9 carat (millesimal fineness 37.5%)purity8 carat (millesimal fineness 33.3%)purity1 carat (millesimal fineness 04.2%)purity
