INDUCTORS are a type of passive electrical devices that are used to store energy from magnetic fields and release it when needed.

The electronic component(mostly a coil) which opposes the changes in current in circuit is called an inductor . The ablitity to oppose the change of current flowing through is it is called inductance of the coil / inductor .The inductance of an inductor may also be defined as ablity to produce induced voltage when current varies through it .

How are inductors classified?

Inductors are classified by its core type.

Why are inductors connected in series?

Inductors are connected in series in order to increase the inductance in the circuit.

What types of inductors for better smoothing?

For better smoothing in power supply applications, toroidal inductors and common mode chokes are often preferred. Toroidal inductors have a closed-loop design that minimizes electromagnetic interference and provides higher magnetic efficiency, leading to better performance in filtering applications. Common mode chokes are effective in reducing noise by suppressing unwanted high-frequency signals while allowing desired signals to pass through. Overall, both types enhance the smoothing of output voltage by reducing ripple and noise.

Are capacitors and inductors active elements?

Capacitors and inductors are considered passive elements, not active elements, because capacitors and inductors do not supply or amplify energy. An example of an active element is a battery, which supplies energy to a circuit.

Do inductors conduct heat?

conductors conduct heat and electricity, and insulators keep the heat in. inductors give away energy as heat.

Why inductors are not used in active filters?

inductors are more expensive and complex.and they take up space. Their effect can be replicated by active circuits.

What is the difference between inductor and inductance?

Inductors can be used for a great many purposes. Terms, such as 'choke', 'reactor', etc., describe applications of inductors.

Why aren't inductors used in timer circuits?

Mostly because large value capacitors are less expensive and smaller than large value inductors.
