You weld aluminum by using an arc shielded in pure argon. This is something you need to get someone to show you how to do, though, because most people who try welding aluminum for the first time with no help screw it up. For one thing, you can't tell when it's almost ready to melt like you can with steel.

Thinking about this question, though: Aluminum cans aren't welded. They're stamped from sheetmetal.
