Depends on your perspective what is before or after. If you're following the direction of the water flow, the trap needs to be before the vent. A water filled trap blocks bad smells/dangerous gasses from entering your home. Putting the vent closest to the sink would bypasses that block. It would also likely cause gurgling because of siphon action trying to pull the water out of your trap (the vent breaks the siphon because its easier to pull air down the vent than to remove the water from the trap)

Right = Sink - trap - vent - main drain stack

What is the proper way to run a condensate drain with a trap Does it need a vent?

The condensate drain on the a-coil should have a trap and the trap should be vented for proper operation . The vent should rise above the top edge of the drain pan in the unit. Their should be a capped clean out before the vent.

If the vent is below the drain is this an s trap if the drain turns up before the fixture with space between trap?

An S trap would go through the floor. A P trap goes through the wall. As long as the drain is below the bottom of the sink, it should drain. Distance between the bottom of the sink, the trap and the drain does not matter, it just changes how much water stay in the drain. Normally it is just in the trap, but it can be above the trap if circumstances cause the trap to be lower than usual.

Is it satisfactory to install a bathtub vent 5 feet down stream to a direct vent strictly for the tub?

Absolutely NOT What is possible (Check local codes) is to install the trap 2 ft from the fixture and the vent 2 ft from the trap BUT if the trap is not easily accessible then your going to have major problems snaking the line

Do you install a vent line below the p trap?

The drain pipe should have a vent that goes up where the sink drain goes into it. That is where it vents. Sinks drain because there is nothing causing a vacuum when the water leaves the sink.

How the water in the trap seal can be lost?

Evaporation is the most common, syphoniage due to no vent or a block went is another cause or a leaking trap.

Should the trap be before or after vent or condensation drain?

The trap should be before the vent. The trap is used to maintain a watter barrier to prevent waste water and sewer gasses from entering the home. The vent is use after the trap to allow the water to flow freely in the pipe with out drawing the water from the trap.

Do you need an air vent installed for the dishwasher and garbage disposal and if so can it be installed another way if needed?

Your kitchen sink should already be vented if there is a p-trap draining to the wall. if it is an s-trap it is not vented and not to present code requirements. The dishwasher drain goes into the side of the disposal and the disposal should drain to the trap. A separate vent is not required for the disposal or dishwasher as the trap for the sink is what requires a vent.

How close to the p trap should the vent pipe be?

Using a typical 1/4" per foot fall (slope) on a 1 1/2" drain, such as a sink drain, the vent must be within 6 feet of the trap to avoid falling below the drain level, and thereby not functioning as a vent.

Is the pee trap above or below the vent?

I BELIEVE: In a horizontal run, the p-trap must be below the vent. Otherwise, the vent may fill with water, creating a blockage, which would then syphon the water from the p-trap causing odors and health concerns from sewer gas. On a horizontal run, the vent must come off the run (presumably with a "wye") where the vent run is above the center line of the drainage run, thus the p-trap is lower than the vent...

What is the purpose of the inline lint trap in a dryer vent system and how does it help prevent lint buildup and potential fire hazards?

The purpose of the inline lint trap in a dryer vent system is to catch and collect lint that escapes from the dryer before it reaches the exterior vent. This helps prevent lint buildup in the vent, which can restrict airflow and increase the risk of a fire hazard. The lint trap captures the lint, allowing for easier maintenance and reducing the likelihood of a fire starting due to lint accumulation in the vent system.

How close to trap should vent be on a water closet?

The vent for a water closet should be installed as close to the trap as possible, ideally within 6 to 10 feet, to ensure proper drainage and prevent sewer gases from entering the home. Additionally, the vent should be positioned above the flood rim of the fixture to effectively allow air to flow into the drainage system. Proper venting helps maintain the water seal in the trap and ensures efficient waste removal. Always consult local plumbing codes for specific requirements.

How can I prevent water from accumulating in my dryer vent water trap?

To prevent water from accumulating in your dryer vent water trap, ensure that the vent is properly installed and sloped downward to allow for proper drainage. Regularly clean and inspect the vent to remove any debris or blockages that may cause water to accumulate. Additionally, consider installing a vent cover or hood to protect the vent from rain and other sources of water.
