John D. Rockefeller never really invented anything. He was actually the leader of the oil industry for a long time. He started his own company called "Standard Oil" which later broke off into Exxon Mobil and Chevron. He became one of the most richest men in America from buying out the whole oil industry and his competitors, and then raising his prices so that people would have to buy it from him.

Mr. Rockefeller did not invent anything. However, he was a avid investor, and he helped monopolize the oil industry.
