It depends on what shower head you have. It is not an exact answer. ANS 2 - The average shower head has a restrictor limiting it to about 2gpm. These can be removed and then you would get about 3 gpm.
Open up the actual shower head and remove the factory fitted restrictor.

The inlet and outlets are the same size on a tank, weather your plumbing is the same size should be the question. This is not critical, but they should be the same,if there is no backflow restrictor on a plubic line and the inlet is larger then the outlet,then you could be pushing hot water into the pubic line. New installs recommend an expansion tank,but few people install them,unless they get water hammer,knocking sounds. But most new water heaters have a restrictor built into the inlet. There is no difference between gas and electric, the water does not know how it is being heated.

having just bought my 535 and wanting to take off the restrictor,i rang around various restrictor kit companies and some local yam garages and they say for my model a'91 2yl there is only a exhaust kit. there is not a kit for the carb!
There should not be a restrictor on a 1994 year model, I'm sure the only ones that have it are the ones between 1990 & 1993.
You can prevent back flow of water from your tank by installing a back flow restrictor valve. The restrictor valve will allow fluid to flow in one direction.
