If the motor was running in a clockwise rotation it will continue to run in a clockwise rotation. Single phase motors have to be built to allow for rotation reversal and then tap changes are made at the motor terminal box to reverse the motor.

What does a Rotating magnetic field do?

The Field which is continuously rotating with a particular axis is known as rotating magnetic field. It will be created in Three phase induction motor's stator. When the supply is given to stator of three induction motor, the flux of each phases (that are displaced by 120 degrees) will interact.
