Resistance is measured in ohms.
This is because the resistance is measured by applying a fixed voltage to the resistor and measuring the current. Since I = V/R, the current/resistance relation is non-linear.
To limit the current
A variable resistor means that the resistance can be varied, usually by using a slide. A fixed resistor can not be varied.
Hi, where there is no need of changing the value of resistor then why do you place variable resistor instead a fixed resistor. After all the selection of resistor depends on the cause of use in application. by the way wide range of resistor values are avilable in the market. if the application requires tuning operation then variable resistor is need to be mounted. nothing is mandatory unless the application requires. It resist the flow of current according to the resistance value.
its the colour of the fixed and the variable we define it by its power and name
No, resistors are measured in ohms, not amps. Ohms represent the resistance offered by the resistor to the flow of current, whereas amps (amperes) represent the measure of current flowing through a circuit.
symbols of fixed resistors
Variable resistors means that a resistor which can change its resistance by control by any person or it self and fixed resistor means that it can not change its value.
if not disconnected you will measure the resistance of the circuit in parallel with the resistor.

those are the fixed resistor...u can't change their values..
The voltage across the resistor at the instant in the circuit where Vab is measured is equal to the potential difference between points A and B.
by using voltmeter
